We join 1D on the red carpet

The Westmeath Examiner is at the heart of the world today – we’re attending the international premiere of the movie, One Direction This Is Us!

We will be Tweeting and Facebooking live from the red carpet in Leicester Square in London all day today, taking in the atmosphere, chatting to fans, and to the invited guests of the biggest boyband in the universe!

Most importantly though, we hope to be catching up with our favourite Mullingar boy, Niall Horan, and bandmates Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

And you can be there with us! Simply log on to our Facebook, Twitter and Westmeath Examiner webpage, where we’ll be updating you every step of the way.

The world premiere is the first look at director Morgan Spurlock’s captivating and intimate all-access examination of life on the road for the global music phenomenon.

Weaved with stunning live concert footage, this fascinating feature film tells the remarkable story of a meteoric rise to fame, from humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London’s famed O2 Arena.

It’s a “Hear it from the boys themselves and see through their own eyes what it’s really like to be One Direction”, film, according to Sony Pictures, and is due to go on international release on August 29.

The 1D guys said they “can’t wait” for the movie to be released. Niall tweeted, “Can’t believe it’s #TwoYearsOfWhatMakesYouBeautiful and this week we premiere our movie This Is Us thank you!”

However, they are not leaving behind their music for Hollywood just yet, according to Zayn Malik, who confirmed the band are not thinking about pursuing an acting career despite the release of their first feature film.

At home in Mullingar there were rumours that Niall has designs on his favourite Mullingar pub, Danny Byrne’s. Reportedly he wants to invest in the nightspot where he plans to hold his 20th birthday party next month.

We heard he’s interested in transforming it into a rock ‘n’ roll pub, but the current owners haven’t confirmed that (see The Bachelor, on page 22).

Anyway, fans have been Up All Night waiting and ready to meet, greet and dance to The Best Song Ever with the five popstars... and we’re looking forward to doing the same!
