This was a tremendous achievement for this golfing novice and no doubt we will hear more from this promising young golfer in the future. The Scratch Matchplay had already been captured by veteran, Bert Burke, with Eamon Coughlan taking the runner-up spot. Bert added this title to the Connacht Seniors Amateur Open Championship which he won by one stroke earlier in the summer. Brendan Kehoe and Johnny Mullally were crowned Paddy Brady Scotch Foursomes champions, following their rain interrupted victory over Louis Cunningham and Brian Brady. Finally, congratulation to Phil Behan, who collected his first Golfer Of The Year title at the presentation on Sunday evening.Final Presentation 2008Club Captain, Padraig Keenan, welcomed a large crowd to the clubhouse last Sunday evening for the final presentation of 2008. Michael Kelly (Secretary) presented a wonderful array of prizes, in particular the Hampers which Anna O"Brien had worked hard to assemble. All of the winners complemented the condition of the course, which is a credit to Tommy Coughlan (Greenkeeper), Tom Higgins (Course Manager), and the course staff. There was general agreement that the greens are the best in the midlands this year. The Teachers" Prize, Club Hamper and Henry Arrigho sponsored Open Hamper were all presented, as well as the outstanding matchplay and golfer of the year prizes.
