It gives the participants an on-going opportunity to access their own unique creativity through art.The works on display reflect a profound love of nature and the natural environment highlighted through an intense expressive use of colour. As Laura herself says, 'I was a dab hand at painting the house but I never in my life had anything to do with drawing.'It came as a big surprise to me when I started that it didn"t look to bad so I decided to carry on. Given that we"ve taken painting up in our golden years - it"s a miracle really.' John adds, 'This exhibition is a fulfilment and as my teacher said when I was going to school, "There"s something in you John Beesley that won"t get out." Well it has now and it"s given me a new lease of life.'This exhibition was originally meant to take place at Clara family resource centre as part of the "Bealtaine festival" celebrating creativity in older age but as their ceiling recently fell in another venue had to be found.John and Laura were determined not to let such difficulties stand in the way of the public seeing their work. The relaxing and peaceful atmosphere of the holistic centre is a perfect compliment to the paintings and provides a tranquil environment in which to view these impressive works.
