LARCC to benefit from a bit of nostalgia

An old north Westmeath institution is poised to come to life on Friday week next, April 30, with a one-night gig at the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar in association with the LARCC Cancer Centre in Ballinalack.Anyone over the age of forty will surely have some memories of the Beehive Lodge, a nightclub locate off the N52 between Turin and Delvin. The venue played host to "Suzy's Disco", to where young adults from the Mullingar area, surrounding districts and indeed surrounding counties flocked during the 1970s and 1980s.The venue has been out of commission since the late 1980s, but memories of "Suzy's Disco" live on; chances are, if you're a twenty or even thirty-something, your parents could have met at "The Beehive".Next week, Dublin-based Pete Devine - the DJ behind the magic of "Suzy's" - will take to the decks at the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar to conjure up some nostalgia for those bygone days of disco.Get your retro gladrags on, take a trip down memory lane, and enjoy all the tracks you used to dance to back in the day - all while raising vital funds to support the work of the LARCC Centre, which provides therapy and support for cancer patients.Pete will take requests on the night, and the disco will run from 9.30pm on Friday night until 1am on Saturday morning.Tickets are available from the Greville Arms, or at the door on the night. All are welcome to attend this nostalgic reunion night, and for all who decide to come along, make sure to bring your camera along. For more details, contact Michael Leonard on 044-9664484, Margaret Hughes on 044-9664474, or Pete Devine on 01-8900270.
