No funds for Dalton Park

An unhappy Cllr Mick Dollard made clear his displeasure at the lack of funds to landscape a green space at the bottom of Dalton Park, during the June meeting of Mullingar Town Council.

“This matter was referred to Westmeath County Council’s Housing Section and unfortunately there is no funding available at the present time to carry out this work,” noted a written reply from the council.

However, a solution may come in the form of the development of the Robinstown Sports and Education Campus, the Labour Party councillor was told.

He claimed he had been given a firm agreement that the space would be opened: “I’m not very happy with this answer, I got a clear commitment from the engineer that this would be reinstated,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cllr Ken Glynn asked the council to outline what it could do regarding the large green area in Ardleigh Vale “which is unavailable for use for the local residents, due to the ongoing delay in approved works”.

The Fianna Fáil councillor was informed that drainage works would be carried out at that location when ground conditions improve during the summer.
