International Uilleann Piping Day marked in Mullingar
The Midlands Uilleann Pipers marked International Uilleann Piping Day with a piping ceiluradh yesterday, Saturday, November 4 at Canton Casey’s in Mullingar.
People interested in learning about and/or to play the instrument were welcomed, and there was a 'try the pipes' hour during the afternoon.
Members of the group also offered information on how to start playing the uilleann pipes and on lessons.
Historian Ruth Illingworth gave a talk on the background and history to the pipes.
