Sinn Féin Ard Fheis taking place in Athlone this weekend

Sinn Féin's Ard Fheis will be held at the TUS technological university in Athlone this Friday and Saturday (November 10 and 11).

With local and general elections taking place inside the next 18 months, there's likely to be increased attention given to the party's annual conference this year.

The leader's speech at the event, by Mary Lou MacDonald, is to be televised on RTÉ One at 6.30pm on Saturday.

Ahead of this weekend's conference, the local Sinn Féin Cumann erected a large party banner - which reads 'A United Ireland is for Everyone' - on a boat at The Strand in Athlone.
