Magnificent music in Multy
A rather special evening’s entertainment took place on Sunday evening, November 26, at the beautiful Multyfarnham Friary.
The award-winning Lynn Singers, the Irish Chamber Orchestra Quintet, and members of the six-strong male voice group Vocative, entertained a rapt audience, with a mix of musical pieces and songs.
The highlight of the evening was their collaborative performance of Kim Arnesen’s famed Magnificat.
The atmosphere was wonderful, and the location was a fitting setting for the performance, the culmination of many months of work.
Lynn Singers, an all-female group under the directorship of local conductor and musician Dervilla Conlon, have a considerable list of wins and awards to their credit, and recently came away with two major awards at the Derry International Choir Festival.
They took first place in the ‘Sacred and Gospel’ section, and went on to top that achievement with an overall win in the ‘Choir of the Festival award’. They also came a close second in the ‘Light, Pop and Jazz’ competition.
Lynn Singers are grateful for all the support they received for the Multyfarnham concert – from their sponsors, the Lions Club and the North Midland Credit Union; from the audience, the local community and especially from Fr Kieran Cronin of the Franciscan community.
