Streete Handmade indoor Christmas Craft Fair
The organisers of the Handmade indoor Christmas Craft Fair at Streete Parish Park on Sunday week last are delighted with its success.
“There’s no other way of putting it,” said Kevin Brady, chairperson of the Streete Parish Park committee.
Local people turned out in large numbers to support it, and there were shoppers from neighbouring counties and even as far away as Dublin and.
There were more than 50 crafters with stalls displaying the best in handmade products, food stalls, and music by some well-known buskers and entertainers as young as 10 years of age, who showed some real talent throughout the day.
Children met Santa and posted their letters and Mrs Claus and the elves were there taking notes and whispering magical wishes and dreams from the children into Santa’s ear, Kevin, reported.
He added: “I really can’t thank the local ladies and their organising committee enough for coming up with the idea and working so tirelessly together behind the scenes over a number of months to put this event together – it just goes to show what can be achieved when people pull together.
“I was also amazed at the distance people travelled – one family told me they had come from Dublin – they had never heard of Streete before this, and said they’d be back again next year.
“Another family from Roscommon said it is a marvellous venue and they were delighted to see a rural community putting such an event away from the hustle and bustle of the big towns.
The Handmade craft fair was put together by a small committee who can be proud of their achievement, and we thank them for donating the proceeds of the day to the upkeep of our community centre, said Kevin.
