'Let's make this year's St Patrick's Day Festival the best ever'

The organising committee of the Mullingar St Patrick's Day Festival has put a call out for new people to get involved this year.

In a press release issued this week, the committee urged individuals and businesses to play their part in making this year's event the best ever.

“As we welcome the year of 2024, we in the Saint Patrick’s Day Festival Committee are mindful that there’s just over two months until the St Patrick’s Festival takes place in Mullingar.

“You would have already heard how successful the parade and associated events were last year, with many locals and guests saying it was the best parade to date. We hope to top that record in 2024 with an even better St Patrick’s Festival this year (celebrating Mullingar’s musical legacy) and that is where you come in - Tell all your friends and family about the festival and organise a reunion for that weekend of March16 and 17 March

- Encourage local businesses to enter a float – especially international businesses based in Mullingar (don’t forget the excellent RTE and other media coverage the festival attracted last year)

- Local sports teams, dance clubs, men / women’s shed groups, and other active organisations can get involved by entering a float to highlight your group or perhaps your own club fundraisers or events

- Celebrate St Patrick through the many events being planned for St Patrick’s weekend.

“We invite anyone who is interested to become involved in the Mullingar Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in any way, (volunteer, committee, sponsorship, donations, floats, etc) please email: mullingarstpatricksday@gmail.com and follow our progress with our plans for the weekend on www.mullingarstpatricksdayfestival.com and on our Facebook or Instagram pages.

“Following on from a successful Tractor Run fundraiser in December, when we raised a combined total of almost €3,000, which was evenly split between the Paediatric Ward in the Regional Hospital Mullingar and the St Patrick’s Day Festival, we will have a few fundraising events taking place in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out on all our social media channels for updates.

“The Mullingar Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is thankful to local businesses for sponsorship to date, and to Westmeath County Council for their valued assistance.”
