Athlone's Lisa stars in new RTÉ detective series
Athlone's Lisa Dwan is starring in RTÉ One's latest Sunday night drama, 'Blackshore' from February 4 next.
The Coosan native, who featured on the front cover of the Sunday Independent's Life magazine at the weekend, features as DI Fia Lucey, an ambitious detective who is haunted by her tragic past.
The new six-part Irish drama coming to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player from next Sunday, follows DI Fia Lucey (Lisa Dwan), a determined detective traumatised by the loss of her entire family in a horrific tragedy at the hands of her father.
Recently banished from her high stakes position due to allegations of undue force, Fia is tasked with investigating the case of a missing woman from her hometown, Blackwater.
What begins as a missing persons' enquiry soon becomes a larger mystery that engulfs the entire community and may uncover devastating revelations about DI Lucey’s own tragic family history.
The new mystery thriller, which was made in Killaloe Co Clare, is from the creators of another huge RTE hit 'Smother' and is produced by Treasure Entertainment.
It also stars many well known faces including Stanley Townsend who TV viewers will remember from 'The Clinic' many years ago and newer productions like 'The Tunnel' and 'Redwater'. Also featured is An Cailín Ciúin's Andrew Bennett, Rory Keenan and Amy De Bhrún from 'Line of Duty'.
Former ballet dance Lisa Dwan, who once danced with Rudolf Nureyev, has had a hugely varied career on stage and screen in recent years, but she is probably best known for her adaptations of the work of Samuel Beckett. She has also appeared in the acclaimed BBC drama 'Bloodlands' in 2021 with James Nesbitt, and was a regular cast member in 'Topboy'.
Lisa has also been a guest lecturer in several US colleges in recent years on Beckett's work, and is a regular writer on the subject.
