Update on N4 funding expected this month

Consultants are working on options for the upgrading of the N4 from Mullingar to Longford and, if funding comes through, the process will be completed, Cllr Aoife Davitt was told at the January meeting of Westmeath County Council.

An announcement on funding is expected by the end of February.

The plan is to upgrade 50km of the N4 from Mullingar to Roosky, bypassing Ballinalack, Rathowen, Edgeworthstown, Longford and Newtownforbes.

The aim is to reduce travel time and improve road safety along that section of the N4.
