Small and mighty Suzuki Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny is a small four-wheel-drive and while it may be quirky, according to Criostoir Sleator of Midland Suzuki, “it’s one of the best looking SUVs around”.
The Jimny is a commercial two seater in Ireland “but that doesn’t mean you can’t drive it privately”. The car has a undeniable retro feel with a solid square shape, round nine inch headlights, and a drip rail – a gutter around the roof of the car.
The drip rail is synonymous with the original Mini and Criostoir says “it was back in the 1980s when I saw a drip rail”.
“I went back as far as 1990 to see if I could find one and I still couldn’t.”
While it may be retro, the Jimny is definitely not stuck in the past. It has lane change assistant and crash assistance. The cameras at the front will detect when you are getting too close to another car and will assist the driver with braking – the cameras read the sign posts on the road.
Criostoir says the Jimny has “changed his life”. Ordinarily he drives a Kia EV6, which he needs to keep clean and protect – whereas the Jimny is a small, rugged car which he can “throw the dogs in” and feel confident the car won’t be worse for wear.
The Jimny is available from the Midlands Suzuki Dealership at Lough Sheever Corporate Park for those who want a do-it-all, utility vehicle.
