Women in Business 2024: Marie Browne (Ardonagh)

Marie is the Head of Data Operations at the Ardonagh Analytics Lab in Mullingar. The Ardonagh Analytics Lab was set up to provide data driven solutions to the Ardonagh Group, a global group of insurance brokers. The Ardonagh Group has a collective Gross Written Premium of £12.5bn with over 200 locations and in excess of 10,000 employees.

“I love the variety of my role, which brings exposure to the insurance broking industry, working with our technical teams to deliver on the data driven projects, while also working with our team in Mullingar to ensure we have a culture to be proud of.”

The theme of International Women’s Day in 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ and “that is a theme we are committed to at the Analytics Lab”.

“For example, we’re keen to promote the tech industry to young women, supporting them to pursue careers in tech and data. The world needs more people in data analytics and as an industry, it’s important that we reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Women bring a lot of skills and valuable insights to the table, and those are of particular value in an industry where women are traditionally under-represented.

“I work with the Midlands Women in Tech group, who hold regular events promoting the tech industry to women of all ages and backgrounds. I believe we need to see more women role models in tech and representation is key: ‘if you see it, you can be it’.

“A career in tech has so many elements to it, teamwork, creativity, collaboration and innovation and it is a career that more women could thrive in.

“As a qualified life coach, I have a keen interest in people, coaching and personal development and my role in the Analytics Lab allows me to tap into all those areas. I think that investing in women is key to accelerating their progress. Over the last two years, at the Ardonagh Analytics Lab we have invested in women by supporting leadership training, professional insurance training, and technical data courses.

“I look forward to continuing to promote careers in tech to young women, introducing them to the many possibilities we have to offer. I want people to understand that by diversifying our talent pool and supporting women to develop careers in tech, we are enriching our viewpoint, which will ultimately support better outcomes for everyone across the wider community.”
