Of course the Billy Mac Mega Concert is brought to you by none other than Billy himself - a legend in his own right - who has an affiliation with The Carers Association for Westmeath and Longford. Catch Billy doing his Neil Diamond and Status Quo tribute acts on the night!

This one is in memory of Vinny

The Louisiana boy who has called Ballinagore home for many years, Robert Mizzell, will headline the ninth annual Billy Mac Mega Concert in aid of the Carers Association.

On Tuesday August 20 at The Greville Arms Hotel, one of the major highlights of the music calendar in Mullingar will take place when Billy Mac invites all of his friends on stage for one fantastic night of entertainment.

Legends like Mick Foster, Ben Dolan, The Swarbriggs, TR Dallas, along with Billy and his renowned Bruce Spingsteen slot will take over the ballroom, plus many more like Simon Casey Matt Leavy, Camillus Egerton, Jason Fallon and Chris Loughrey – to name but a few!

As always this is a fantastic night for value as well as entertainment, as tickets are just €10. Sure where else would you get it?!

As always, Billy’s Mega Concert is in aid of The Carers Association, who year in year out, depend on public support, and the musicians, who give up their time for free, to help keep the office (based at Blackhall in Mullingar) open.

There is also a poignant note to this year’s show as it will be dedicated to the memory of the late gentleman and brilliant musician, Vinny Baker.

The guitar and strings genius with his Tennessee Breakdown Band played every year in Billy’s concert.

“I want to make it a tribute to Vinny,” Billy told the Westmeath Examiner following Vinny’s death. “I knew him when he was just a boy, 10 years old, playing the guitar – and what he could not do with a guitar!

“So I want to dedicate this night to the life and work of Vinny Baker. He was a living saint, a charismatic human being and a Christian, I’ve never known anyone like him.”

Billy is extremely excited to have Robert Mizzell headlining the show this year as he is one of the top country music artists in Ireland.

Robert, who has made this his home for over 20 years now, served his apprenticeship in country music since when first arrived, and is now celebrating his 10-year anniversary and 10th tour to Vegas this September!

With a new single Wham Bam doing well in the charts, Robert, with his acquired Tyrone accent – which he tells me has something to do with his Irish fiancee – feels strongly about helping Billy with The Carers Association.

“It’s something that we will all need at one point, or even a family member, – a carer to look after us – and I think it’s only right that we help bridge the gap in funding that they are missing from the government, it’s an essential service.

“We’re very busy with the new single Wham Ban, and we’re off to Vegas in September launching our 10th album, coinciding with our 10th tour to the States, which is great I think.

“I’m really looking forward to Billy’s night. This is the third or fourth time I’ve played the concert and it’s always a great night, Billy has a lot of supporters out there – a great following, so yeah, it should be one great night!”

Tickets are on sale now at the Greville Arms, and as everyone also knows by now, they are a limited commodity, so make sure to get yours early to avoid disappointment!
