Captains fantastic lead the way for slick Streamstown
Streamstown NS 3-11 St Mary's NS, Collinstown 3-6
A dominant wind-assisted display in the first half propelled Streamstown NS to a deserved win against St Mary’s NS, Collinstown in the Division 4 football final.
Shay Seery put Streamstown ahead with a point after 90 seconds, but an opportunist goal from Alfie O’Farrell soon nudged the red and white-clad outfit ahead. However, the winners went on to outscore St Mary’s by 2-8 to 0-2 (a Tom Nolan free and a point via the crossbar by O’Farrell). The scores for the side in green and yellow came courtesy of Lee Monaghan (1-2, including a converted free), Donnacha Scally (1-1, the point from a free), Seery (0-4, including two frees), and Ross McNamara Kelly (0-1). Streamstrown led by 2-9 to 1-2 at the break.
