Entries up again as Tullamore prepares for bumper show

As the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show creeps ever closer, organisers have confirmed that entry levels this year are up, with record-breaking entries in the sheep section.

The show said entries have been consistent over the last two years, and remain so this year, although up on the 2023 figures.

“It just proves the massive interest and love there is for Tullamore Show,” the committee said, in a statement, referencing also the huge demand for trade stands.

Exhibitors will be vying for the gold and silver medals and rosettes in the livestock section.

While in the cookery sectoin, bakers who qualified from shows around the country will be competing for the Odlum’s All Ireland Home Baking Championship or for the Everyday Baking Challenge, involving an apple tart and brown bread.

Another national final is being held in the shape of the Bord Bia All Ireland Potato Championship.

Of course on show day, Sunday, August 11, there is so much to see, including the finest intricate patchwork quilts, works of arts and photography and the finest groomed hens, ducks and other fowl in the poultry section.

Attendees can also see the finest livestock, whether it’s pedigree or commercial cattle, sheep, rare breeds or horses.

With a growing awareness of the many environmental, social and economic benefits that trees can provide on the farm, a wealth of information will be available at the Forestry and Energy section.

A visit to the inventions section is always worthwhile too to catch sight of the new innovations and adapted inventions on view from around the country.

The trade stand area is bigger than ever with lots of shopping to be done whether for home, farm or family or just browsing.

The Fashion marquee is a must stop for fashion shows and stands, with entries accepted on the day for the Best Dressed Lady or Traditional Farmer.

After the huge success of the Sustainable Livestock Village of 2023, it will be further enhanced with a Speakers Corner this year.

There is lots of opportunities to relax and refuel, with food villages and live music throughout the day. The highlight of the entertainment section will be Offaly's Olivia Douglas, backed by many more local acts.

There is a special arena also to keep the children entertained
