New defibrillator installed in Delvin
The community of Delvin are very happy with the installation of a new, state-of-the-art defibrillator outside Leavy's Shop and Post Office. This essential upgrade was made possible through the efforts of Cllr David Jones and the generous contributions from the community.
During a routine check ahead of this year's St Patrick's Day parade, the now county councillor David Jones discovered that the existing defibrillator required a new battery that was no longer available.
Recognising the importance of having a functional defibrillator readily accessible, Cllr Jones determined that the best course of action was to purchase a new, up-to-date device. The new defibrillator features universal pads suitable for both adults and children, ensuring that it can provide lifesaving assistance to anyone in need.
To fund this vital upgrade, Cllr Jones incorporated a fundraising initiative into his election launch night held at Shaughnessy’s Bar of Delvin. A raffle was held, with all funds raised going towards the purchase of the new defibrillator. Additionally, Cllr Jones set up a GoFundMe campaign, and as soon as sufficient funds were collected, the new defibrillator was ordered and has now been installed.
Cllr Jones expressed his gratitude, stating: "I want to thank everyone who donated. We have a great community in Delvin, and if anything is needed, all you have to do is ask in most cases. "
