Siobhán aims to spread wellbeing with ‘Mullingar Mindfulness’

Having spent a lifetime on the stage, Siobhán Moore, head of dance at Mullingar Arts Centre, has recently discovered a love for mindfulness and wellbeing, and she has created a day on that theme as a fundraiser for A Lust for Life.

A dance teacher for more than 20 years, Siobhán came up with the idea for ‘Mullingar Mindfulness’ at the start of the summer, and has since put a lot of time into developing it, collaborating with facilitators and attending as many wellbeing classes and workshops as she could.

She wanted to create a combination of two of the things she loved in order to help promote and inspire others to also find alternative, simple but effective ways to stay happy, healthy and well.

Jumpin' for joy!

She also wants to help promote all the different facilitators and businesses that Mullingar has to offer in the area of mindfulness and wellbeing, people who promote and allow a time to disconnect from technology and be present.

One of the supporters of Mullingar Mindfulness is Mullingar Arts Centre, where, on Saturday, August 24, there will be taster workshops provided by wellness facilitators from around the town starting from 10am. A theatrical celebration and appreciation to end the day takes place at 7.30pm.

Booking in advance is required, at mullingarartscentre.ie.

The facilitators as well as other Mullingar businesses are donating their time to help raise money for A Lust For Life.

Mullingar Library is also supporting the mindfulness day, and events there include ‘Story and Monster Doodle’ (11am-noon, no booking required) and ‘Lego free play’ for ages 5-plus (11.30am-12.30pm, booking required, at westmeathculture.ie).

@mullingarmindfulness on Instagram will have notices of other events taking place around town.

Siobhán said: “The support of businesses has been amazing and I would like to say a personal thanks to all who have supported Mullingar Mindfulness day – aka ‘me day'!”

She hopes Mullingar Mindfulness will become an annual event and get bigger each year.
