Moate Motors announces decision to close doors
The business landscape in Moate received a big blow this week with the announcement that Moate Motors will close its doors for the final time on Friday week, August 30.
In a Facebook post, the popular local business, which was run by Mount Temple native Cathal Geoghegan, cited “constant rising costs” of both parts and general expenses, coupled with difficulties in recruiting extra staff to keep up with demand, as the reason for its closure, and added that had been left with “no choice” in the face of rising costs and recruitment issues.
Moate Motors said they were “extremely disappointed” to have to make what they described as the “incredibly difficult decision” to close, and they sincerely thanked all their customers who had supported them in business over the past two and a half years. “We thoroughly enjoyed working for you all and will continue to work to keep your cars rolling until the end of August” the post concluded.
